UTOPIA IN MOSCOW (2008)
As done every year, we pick a different destination in an attempt to broaden the frame of reference from which we imagine the city. During the year 2008, choosing Moscow seemed to sense Russia’s renewed presence in the geopolitical game, as we experienced the beginning of a second Cold War. Beyond Moscow’s exoticism with respect to Puerto Rico, three theoretical frameworks established possible lines of comparison: imagined city, ideological city, and unfinished city. During the trip we collected documents and photographic material, as well as interviews to a large sample of the population.
The investigation counted with the intellectual support of Anna Bronovitskaya, professor at the Moscow Architecture Institute (MARKHI), who gave a seminar at ArqPoli during the months of preparation prior to the trip.

UTOPÍA EN MOSCÚ
Cada año para la investigación se elige un destino distinto, buscando ampliar el marco referencial desde donde imaginamos la ciudad. El año 2008 la selección de Moscú pareció intuir la renovada presencia de Rusia en el juego geo-político, al experimentarse el inicio de una segunda Guerra Fría. Más allá de la exoticidad de Moscú con respecto a Puerto Rico, tres marcos teóricos establecieron posibles líneas de comparación: ciudad imaginada, ciudad ideológica y ciudad inconclusa. Durante el viaje se recopiló material fotográfico y documental, así como entrevistas a una muestra amplia de la población.
El curso contó con el apoyo intelectual de la profesora Anna Bronovitskaya del Moscow Architecture Institute (MARKHI), quién ofreció un seminario en ARQPOLI durante los meses de preparación previo al viaje.
